“Scarlett Johansson Fights Back Against Unauthorized Use of Her Image by AI App”

Scarlett Johansson is taking legal action after an artificial intelligence app called Lisa AI: 90s Yearbook & Avatar used her face and voice in an advertisement. The 22-second clip, which has since been removed from the internet, featured an old clip of the actress during a behind-the-scenes look at her film “Black Widow.” In the ad, Johansson says, “What’s up, guys? It’s Scarlett and I want you to come with me,” before transitioning to a group of AI-generated pictures that resemble her. A voiceover, sounding very similar to Johansson, continues to advertise the app’s capabilities. The actress is seeking to protect her good name by taking legal action against the app’s creators.

Scarlett Johansson has taken legal measures against the creators of Lisa AI: 90s Yearbook & Avatar, an artificial intelligence app that used the actress’ image and voice in an advertisement without her consent. According to her representatives, the star of “Asteroid City” is not affiliated with the app in any way. Her lawyer, Kevin Yorn, stated that they are taking the matter seriously and will use all legal means necessary to address it. Johansson is not the only celebrity who has been affected by AI.

According to a statement given to Variety, representatives of Johansson have clarified that she is not endorsing the app despite her appearance in the promotional material for “Asteroid City.” Similarly, Tom Hanks took to Instagram in early October to caution his fans about a dental plan commercial that used an AI-generated version of him without his permission. The actor emphasized that he had no association with the advertisement.

Variety reports that an old 22-second clip of Scarlett Johansson during a behind-the-scenes look at her movie “Black Widow” was posted on X (previously known as Twitter), but has since been removed from the internet. The utilization of artificial intelligence and digital recreation is also a significant issue for the actors currently involved in the SAG-AFTRA strike.

The Writers Guild of America recently ended a five-month strike and one of their demands was to prohibit the use of AI for writing or reworking source material. President Joe Biden has signed an executive order that regulates the development of artificial intelligence.

Would you like to be the first one to share your thoughts? Let’s hear what you have to say. White House Deputy Chief of Staff, Bruce Reed, revealed that President Biden’s interest in regulating artificial intelligence (AI) was sparked by watching “Mission: Impossible – ᴅᴇᴀᴅ Reckoning Part One,” which features Tom Cruise. Reed stated that if the president wasn’t already worried about AI, then he definitely had more reasons to be after watching the movie. Additionally, the president was shown how AI generated fake images of himself and his dog, as well as a demonstration of voice cloning, which further solidified his aggressive stance on regulating AI.
