Augie and Puffin, two canine siblings, finally had a long-awaited family reunion in June 2023. The last time these furry friends had seen each other was when they were tiny puppies. Augie, a Cavachon, was picked up by Karolina Chwistek from a licensed breeder in Massachusetts in January 2018. On the other hand, Puffin went to live with Laura Green in Austin, Texas, around the same time. It seemed like they would never see each other again until Chwistek posted a picture of Augie on his Instagram (@augiemichels) to celebrate his birthday in November 2020. This post led to an unexpected reunion that was years in the making.
Karolina Chwistek, the owner of Augie, received a direct message from Laura Green after she noticed that their dogs looked almost identical and had the same birthday. Green had also created an Instagram account for her pup, Puffin, and had followed Augie’s account for some time. However, it wasn’t until Augie shared a birthday post on Puffin’s birthday that Green realized the similarities between the two dogs. After messaging each other, they discovered that Augie and Puffin were siblings from the same litter and had the same mother.
Karolina Chwistek and Laura Green were thrilled to discover that their dogs, Augie and Puffin, were actually siblings. They decided that they wanted the dogs to have a chance to bond and spend time together like any other siblings would. The opportunity for a reunion arose in June 2023 when Chwistek’s husband had to travel to Austin for work. Chwistek and Augie joined him on the trip, turning it into a vacation centered around the dog reunion. Green and Puffin agreed to the plan, and on June 25, the two canine siblings met at a dog-friendly coffee shop in Austin. Chwistek described the reunion as if the dogs were reuniting old friends, as Augie and Puffin sat happily beside each other and posed for photos with giant smiles on their faces.
In Austin, Augie and Puffin, two Cavachon siblings, had a heartwarming reunion that brought their owners together. During this meet-up, the dog owners were amazed to find out how similar their beloved pets are. As it turns out, both dogs have a tendency to sit down during walks if they don’t like the direction they’re going in, and they go to great lengths to avoid getting their paws wet by leaping over puddles. Chwistek, one of the owners, notes that the pups also share an endearing temperament- they’re both sweet and sassy.
Karolina Chwistek and Laura Green arranged a meet-up for their dogs, Augie and Puffin. The dog siblings had a great time together, and their owners had fun taking countless pictures. When it was time to say goodbye, it took a while because the two dogs looked so alike that they had to double-check they were taking home the right one. Augie and Puffin don’t plan to let years go by before they hang out again. In fact, their owners hope to find more of their siblings and have a grand family reunion in the future.
