Princess was almost sacrificed when she met her new owners, Jenny and Jimmy Desmond, who have a deep love for animals. Princess quickly observed their compassion when their dog comforted the chimpanzees who had lost their family in a natural way. Princess believes that everyone deserves a second chance at life, hence her eagerness to ensure the well-being of these primates. She was rescued from a sanctuary at the tender age of one.
Right from the start, Princess was drawn to Desmonds when they came to visit her. The stunning dog made every effort to capture their attention, conveying her desire to be taken in by them. And it worked! Desmonds ended up adopting Princess.
The Desmonds made a decision to take a journey to 10 different countries with the purpose of assisting numerous animals. This showcases their love and compassion for these creatures.
The Desmonds were greatly displeased when the New York City Blood Center left numerous chimpanzees behind. As a result, they teamed up with the Humane Society of the United States (HSUS) and local rescue teams to step in and save them. Without their intervention, the chimpanzees would have probably died.
The Desmonds, together with the princesses, journeyed to Liberia to carry on their mission of supporting neglected primates. They provided sanctuary and rehabilitation to animals who were harmed due to illegal activities.
A lovely group of chimpanzees are being cared for by this family, who have the amazing gift of providing animal assistance. The presence of a dog brings comfort to these charming chimps, making them feel safe and surrounded by love and peace. Jenny Desmond explained that the primates are currently undergoing rehabilitation in Liberia, with the intention of reuniting them with a chimp family where they can truly belong.
Jenny reported that Princess is dedicated to providing a safe haven for chimpanzees and has devoted herself to their care and well-being. Her efforts include preparing the chimps for potential integration into new families at a rescue facility. The Desmond family’s ultimate goal is to establish the first chimp shelter in Liberia, and they are working with partners such as the HSUS and the Liberian Forest Development Authority to achieve this. As Jenny explained, the Desmonds have a waiting list of chimpanzees in need of assistance and are eager to provide them with a future among other rescued chimps, rather than humans.
